Work smarter – not harder – with next-gen appliances

Busy kitchens run more smoothly with great appliances that go the extra mile. If anyone knows that, it’s Poh.

“As a cook, your kitchen appliances are an extension of your appendages,” says the bubbly TV personality. “They’re really going to help you with having success in the kitchen.”

Adds Tania Grillinzoni, The Good Guys Buyer – Cooking:

“Our customers are clearly prioritising versatility and unified design when it comes to upgrading their kitchen appliances – and that’s where the LG Kitchen Collection really shines. These design-conscious ovens, cooktops and rangehoods all offer the most up-to-the-minute flexibility and intelligent functionality.”

6 ways to faster mealtimes with LG kitchen appliances

Want to make less of a meal of meal prep? It starts with clever LG appliances that do more for you in the kitchen. We’re talking about…

#1 See-through ovens

Keen to see if your roast is ready without interrupting the cooking process? Too easy! With LG’s top-rated InstaView™ feature, just knock twice on the door of your LG Series 9 60cm InstaView™ Full Steam Oven and the entire cavity will light up.

“LG’s InstaView™ function? With two taps I can keep an eye on how that sponge is rising, or whether that crackling on my pork roast is crisping to perfection, without opening the door,” says Poh. “It’s one of the most fun innovations of this range.”

#2 Integrated air-frying

LG knows that the most in-demand oven feature right now is built-in Air Frying so they’ve made sure to include it in all their latest ovens.

“I love the in-oven Air Fryer function because I don’t have a lot of surface space for a benchtop one. My favourite thing to use it for is heating up pastries because I love making pies and I love a croissant. It’s brilliant to be able to reheat your pastries to crispy perfection … as good as the day they were born!” says Poh.

“Oven air-frying is also great for cooking larger quantities all at once or reviving leftovers like fried chicken or pizza,” adds Tania Grillinzoni.

#3 Speedy steam cleans

Forget scrubbing at baked-on oven spills with nasty chemicals once in a blue moon. LG’s patented Blue EasyClean™ feature is essentially a 10-minute steam clean that you can use to loosen grime after every meal to ensure your oven stays as fresh as your flavours.

“Honestly, the Blue EasyClean™ is one of my favourite functions of the new LG ovens,” says Poh. “As an artist, I just love the vibrant blue enamel interior because I’m a little colour bug! No one else has innovated with colour in the oven interior like this before, but what fun. And the steam clean function is just amazing!”

#4 Fast technology

Quick meals call for rapid, even heating and that’s what induction cooktops, such as the LG 60cm Induction Cooktop, do best.

“Induction cooktops are a very important innovation. As a professional cook, there are so many advantages to them. One of them is that they respond instantly, so you can either ramp the heat up or turn it down very quickly. And that’s great when you’re as chaotic as I am with a million things going on the stove!” says Poh.

#5 Flexible features

With an LG Induction Cooktop, you can easily cook a main and all your sides at once on four powerful cooking zones. Or use Flexi Mode to merge two cooking zones into one large area.

“The Flexi Zone on this LG cooktop is just so brilliant for flexibility,” says Poh. “If you’ve got a really big pan or something that just came out of the oven, like a roast, and you want to make gravy, you’ve got a cooking zone that actually covers the entire surface area. I love it for rectangular iron skillets to cook steaks on.”

#6 Smart support

With an LG Induction Cooktop and LG Canopy Rangehood power couple, you can clear the air of unwanted cooking fumes, without lifting a finger. Simply synchronise your connected LG Rangehood to automatically turn on as soon as you start cooking, via the LG ThinQ® app*, and focus on your flavours instead. Now that’s smart!

Poh’s 3 golden rules for easy home cooking

Cook like Poh with these simple meal prep hacks…

#1 Use what you’ve got

“One of my favourite home cooking shortcuts is just using what’s available to you and not trying to get too fancy or too far ahead of yourself. It’s all about knowing how to balance your salty, sweet, sour and spicy. That can revolutionise the way you cook with very few ingredients.”

#2 Keep it simple

“One of my favourite quick dinners is very unexpected. Just steamed veg with a good chunk of butter melted over it, lemon, salt and pepper. I have great respect for simple flavours and I love my veg; I actually quite like mushy veg because I never got it as a child. In a Chinese household, I grew up with crunchy vegetables. So to me, mushy vegetables are quite exotic!”

#3 Stock up on this magic ingredient

“I don’t claim to be a chef, I’m a home cook, and this may sound surprising, but my favourite secret ingredient is chicken stock powder. If something’s tasting just a little hollow, a teaspoon of it always does the trick.”
