Fried chicken is a fan favourite in the world of fast food. Whether in a burger or flying solo, you’ll find it on top of many a takeaway menu. Follow this fried chicken recipe from Philips to make your own mouth-watering drumsticks and impress the crowd at home.

In the world of takeaway, the burger is king. Make your meat patties as usual, place them in a single layer in the air fryer, cook for about 9–12 minutes at 190°C, flipping after 5 minutes, then slap on a slice of cheese and cook for another minute. Add the patty to lettuce, onions, tomatoes and pickles on a bun. Now who’s the burger king?!

Next in line to the throne is the humble French fry – great in partnership but just as impressive when flying solo. To whip up a batch of fries, all you need to do is cut a potato into thin, even sticks, and toss them in olive oil and salt. Place potato sticks in a single layer in your air fryer and cook on 195°C for 12–15 minutes (turning over halfway) until golden brown and crispy. Viva la French fry!
“Who doesn’t love a burger and fries? Once you’ve tried making them with your air fryer at home, you’ll never look back. They’re healthier, cheaper and taste so much better!” Tracey Ellis, The Good Guys Buyer – Portable Appliances
The Italian favourite is made for air fryers, whether benchtop or in a next-gen (and more spacious) oven that features an air frying setting. Begin by pre-cooking the crust for a few minutes at 190°C, then add the toppings straight onto the base in the air fryer. If using an oven, you can assemble your pizza all at once. You can’t go wrong with a simple combo of tomato paste, buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil and tomato, but feel free to mix it up with all your favourite ingredients. Cook for a further 7 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the crust is golden brown.
In the mood for Chinese? These potstickers will hit the spot. Make the filling by combining shiitake mushrooms, minced pork, diced cabbage and chives, then place spoonfuls on pre-bought dumpling wrappers and pinch edges together to seal. Cook at 190°C for about 7 minutes in your air fryer and serve with soy sauce. Warning: Once you have one, you won’t be able to stop.
They’re so simple you’ll be able to make them with your eyes closed (piñata style!). Grab a tortilla and add some refried beans, fried vegies, rotisserie chicken and shredded cheddar cheese on top. Fold over and cook in the air fryer at 180°C for 8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is crisp. Olé!
We’ve already covered the chips (aka French fries) above, so all you need to do is add the fish. Select a white fish of your choosing, cut it into similar sized strips, then coat each piece in flour, egg and breadcrumbs. Spray with olive oil, place in an air fryer and cook for 10–12 minutes at 200°C. They’ll be the healthiest fish and chips you’ve ever had!
Prepare kebabs as normal (thread alternating marinated chicken cubes and vegies onto skewers) then place the kebabs, spaced out, in an air fryer set at 175°C. Cook for 7–9 minutes, turning over at the halfway point, until cooked through.
