Breville Oracle® Jet: Discover The Automated Espresso Machine 10 Years In The Making

August 1, 2024 - 4 min read

A decade ago, Breville unveiled its signature The Oracle®  Espresso Machine, setting a new benchmark for delicious home-brewed coffee. Since then, the Australian coffee machine and small appliance experts have been fine-tuning their beloved brew-maker – adding a 5-inch high-definition touchscreen, improving the auto grinder, including more cold coffee recipes and supercharging its automation with grind dose and tamp. And now, the new and improved Breville Oracle coffee machine, dubbed the Oracle® Jet, is ready to take pride of place on your kitchen bench.

“Breville changed the game for home espresso with the launch of the Oracle® back in 2014, and it’s a privilege to now bring to market the next generation in Oracle innovation,” says Breville’s Con Psarologos, Portfolio General Manager – Coffee.

So what exactly does 10 years of customer insight and tech advancement get you? Here, we unpack the leading-edge new features of the Oracle® Jet to uncover why homemade coffee is better than ever with Breville.

INNOVATION #1: Faster-than-ever heating

You don’t like waiting.  Breville gets it, and so does the Oracle® Jet. This new Breville automatic coffee machine takes the wait out of your coffee break with a new ThermoJet® heating system – you’ll get the perfect brewing temperature within a matter of seconds.

Even more impressive, it matches speed with precision. The ThermoJet® Heating system delivers a consistent 93°C extraction – on par with commercial machines – and lets you customise the brew temperature in 1-degree increments to suit your taste. Now that’s coffee perfection!

“Just as a gourmet meal requires precisely measured ingredients, careful cooking temperatures and intentional timing, coffee brewing demands similar attention to detail, especially regarding water temperatures to ensure consistency in cup and flavour,” says Tracey Ellis, The Good Guys Buyer – Portable Appliances.

INNOVATION #2: Barista-quality grind

Back in 2020, Breville acquired American grinder specialist Baratza and now you get to taste what they can do. The Oracle® Jet is the first Breville coffee machine to include the premium Baratza European Precision Burr that offers a mind-blowing 45 grind settings to suit your coffee preference. The new Breville coffee grinder grinds, doses and tamps automatically, taking the guesswork out of making a well-rounded cup of joe.

To really make the most of the premium grind, coffee aficionados will be excited to hear that Breville has stuck with the commercial-size 58mm group head (the part where water from the boiler is dispensed into the portafilter).

“A larger group head means a greater coffee dose with enhanced flavour and even extraction,” says Tracey Ellis. “By including a 58mm group head on the Oracle® Jet, Breville has ensured coffee lovers can enjoy a more robust home espresso.”

INNOVATION #3: Cold coffee recipes

Your kitchen is the best cafe in town thanks to the Oracle Jet and you can sample everything on the menu using the improved high-definition touchscreen with the first time ever a new dark mode menu and LED lighting system. There are 10 preset coffee drinks to choose from, pouring everything from a full-bodied double espresso to a creamy flat white. Prefer a chilled coffee with lunch? You’ve got it. Keeping step with the enormous popularity of cold brew coffee, Breville has included both this and a cold espresso option with the Oracle Jet.

INNOVATION #4: Milk mastery

Fancy a latte, flat white or cappuccino? You’ll never taste better with the Oracle Jet, thanks to Breville’s AutoMilQ™ technology. Here, the temperature sensor has been moved to the steam wand tip for ultimate precision and silky smooth microfoam, no matter what your milk preference is – you’ll find settings for oat, almond, soy and dairy milk, all at the touch of a button. A new Auto Queue feature also lets you queue your steps so milk automatically steams at the perfect point in the process. It’s like having an experienced barista by your side guiding you from start to finish.

INNOVATION #5: Future-proofed tech

The Oracle® Jet is Breville’s first Wi-Fi-enabled coffee machine, making it the smart home barista you need. This connectivity allows the machine to download any Breville software updates so you are always using the best available technology for your brew.

“Smart coffee machines are also much easier to maintain, sending you notifications when it’s time to descale your Breville coffee machine or instructions on how to clean your Breville coffee machine, and letting you know whether the coffee beans or water need to be refilled,” says Tracey Ellis.
